So I'm heaving back to Vietnam, and will revisit the beautiful city that is Nha Trang where I'll be spending time on the beach, taking a cooking class, going down the Mekong Delta, eating copious amounts of dragon fruit and feeding monkeys. Loving life right now.
Again, Merry Christmas.
I've been reading your blog for a while now and this blog stood out to me because you mentioned nha trang. It's such a beautiful place isn't it? I've only been there once in 08' but I loved it there. The best thing about it is that you can wake up at 4 in the morning and go to the beach and lay out under the stars and wait for the sun rise. Something that can't be done where I'm from. There's this one place to eat, it's spring rolls with some type of grilled spam (something of the like) and you assemble your own meal. It's so delicious, I don't remember where it is or the name but if you can get a translator and ask your hotel concierge than it's worth a try and describe to them, the vietnamese word for it is "nem nuong." Can't wait for you to blog about it and I'm really jealous of you right now. :]
ReplyDeletethanks for the recommendation Vana...ill be sure to look into it...just got to nha trang this morning, sitting on the roof of my hotel ..tough, tough life i live...ill try finding the place you mentioned and will more than likely share more about vietnam when i get back, but right now, its off to snorkeling..

ReplyDeleteI believe that Dang Van Quyen was the one I visited with my family two days in a row. :D Apparently nem nuong is the specialty cuisine for Nha Trang and it's cheap. Gosh how I wish I was in any country right now aside from the U.S. Well enjoy your vacation! :]
And thanks for making your blog enjoyable to read.
thanks vana///..i tried it and it was DELICIOUS!!! thanks for the tip..i had an amazing time as i expeected...heading back to korea right now...very bittersweet..
ReplyDeletecheers and happy new year
Oh, dragon fruits.... I really like them but they are too expensive in Korea. Since they are cultivated in Korea(Cheju island), they taste much better then imported ones that have been shipped long distances, but they still lack something in their taste when compared to dragon fruits I have tasted in southern China. Perhaps it has something to do with the climate.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have found your blog today and found it quite interesting and amusing. I guess I would be visiting your blog from time to time;;
I haven't had Dragon Fruit since I was last in Vietnam in 2004, and they were as good as I remembered. I had some everyday and will look forward to going to Cheju sometime this summer to have them again.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found it and enjoy it, I JUST got back from vacation. Was on the beach 2 days ago and now it's snowing hard, what an adjustment. Hope you keep reading!
